The Weekly Bugle Vol. 21

This past week we saw a new Loki poster plus some interesting casting and confirmation. Sure there was that one 4-hour long cut that was released, but we don’t have the time for that. But we do have the time to discuss the latest Marvel news. Click here for our Falcon and Winter Soldier Episode 1 Breakdown

Loki

Loki Podcast

Marvel Studios released a new poster promoting the upcoming Loki series coming to Disney+ on June 11. It shows Loki in the custody of the TVA complete with a collar that much like Wanda’s in Civil War is meant to disrupt his power. However, one look at his face shows he is not concerned in the least.

Visually the clock is playing to the notion of his time traveling. It is also a nod to the TVA’s time machine from the comics. We have some thoughts about the lack of hexagons and the multitude of circles.

Andrew Garfield on Spider-Man Set

William Spencer, Andrew Garfield’s stunt double, shared and has since deleted a photo of him allegedly on the set of Spider-Man No Way Home. He also tagged Tom Holland’s stunt double in the caption and liked a comment that asked “are you on the set of NWH?”

While the multiverse angle of No Way Home has been out there for a while this would be more confirmation that it’s happening. However

Pretty sure the dude is in a Marvel jail somewhere and will never work again. We have seen those NDA’s close up and they cover EVERYTHING.

Patriot Confirmed For Falcon and Winter Soldier

Elijah Richardson who was rumored to be playing Eli Bradley aka Patriot in Falcon and The Winter Soldier is confirmed to be in the show based on an Instagram story from his agency. That means one more for the Young Avengers and we are excited about it.

ZOMBIES 3

Fans of the Disney Channel franchise Zombies will be excited to learn that Zombies 3 is officially filming. The Zoms, Poms, and Werewolves must team up to take on a threat of galactic proportions.

Falcon and Winter Soldier Episode 1 Breakdown

The show begins on a somber note as Sam is packing up the shield Steve gave him at the end of Avengers: Endgame. But almost immediately the scene shifts and fans are treated to an epic aerial battle. Falcon manages to rescue an operative who was kidnapped by none other than Batroc. Remember him?

Batroc gets away and before Sam heads home he learns about the Flag-Smashers, a group of individuals who think like was better during the blip. They want a unified world with no borders, and essentially no governments.

Sam turns over Steve’s shield to the Smithsonian to be used in the ever-expanding Captain America exhibit.

Falcon on your left

Bucky continues to have nightmares about the bad things that happened during his Winter Soldier days. He is in therapy which is good for him as someone with PTSD to the millionth degree. It is also a mandated part of his pardon.

The show mixes in classic Marvel humor with a lot of action and heart. There are more scenes about the real-world implications of the Blip, which started in WandaVision. Specifically how hard it is now that everything and everyone is back to “normal.”

The last 3 minutes or so had us fuming! If you know us well, you know exactly what I mean too.

The Weekly Bugle Vol 19

The Weekly Bugle Vol 19

WandaVision Episode 9 made us run the gamut of emotions and ended with several teases about what could be coming in future phase 4 offerings. While a lot of theories weren’t proven, they weren’t necessarily disproven either. We are betting that after other MCU series and shows have been released we will be able to look back on WandaVision and see where the seeds were laid. And of course, we get to say we told you so.

WandaVision Finale Breakdown

The Weekly Bugle Vol 19 WandaVision Finale Breakdown

We knew we would have to say goodbye to Vision and the boys but we think it would’ve been easier if Marvel had indeed let Mephisto take them. That family scene was beautifully devastating. It made us cry, for proof of that watch our reaction video, but in the end, we felt like it ended just right.

Related: WandaVision Episode 9 Breakdown and Easter Eggs

Now we know some fans felt a little let down by what did or rather what didn’t happen. However, viewed through the lens of the MCU as a whole it was perfect. Would we have liked some loose ends tied up? Sure. Were we rooting for a Reed Richard’s text or Loki showing up? 100%. But not getting those things didn’t detract from what WandaVision did give us- a new era of MCU greatness.

Related: WandaVision Cocktail The Darcy

Now the future looks bright and intense because the first credit scene tied into Secret Invasion with a side of Captain Marvel 2. We think the Skrull was referring to Nick Fury and we cannot wait to see SLJ again.

The second one not only implies Darkhold/Chthon ties but also proved that Tommy and Billy will be back in the future. Wanda in her new bad *ss Scarlet Witch outfit just needs to find them. And lord help whoever has taken them captive because that omega-level mutant mama is not playing games.

Thor 4 Set Photos

This past week we also got a glimpse into Thor Love and Thunder by some fan set pictures. Melissa McCarthy, Matt Damon, and Luke Hemsworth were on stage acting out another Asgardian play. McCarthy will be playing the role of Hela. This should be amazing. And what would be even better is if a certain god of mischief somehow came back to see the play for himself. Just saying.

Meeks was also spotted as well as Thor’s goats- Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder. It will be interesting, to say the least to see these two in the MCU. There were also some pics of a certain character but we won’t share them here because see: Friend, Marry, Kill Marvel Edition.

WandaVision Episode 8 Breakdown

WandaVision Episode 8 Breakdown

WandaVision episode 8 could have been we told you so part 2 but regardless of the “we knew it moments,” “Previously on” took us on an emotional ride. More than once we found ourselves with tears in our eyes.

Agatha’s backstory was revealed. It is possible she was possessed by something or someone that taught her dark magic. Could that be Chthon or whoever inhabits the Darkhold? We think it is and that Agatha will be redeemed by the end of the show.

Related: WandaVision Episode 8 Easter Eggs & Breakdown

Agatha and Wanda walked us through Wanda’s life and although it was inevitable we ended up doing this it didn’t make it any less heartbreaking. In fact, it was sadder than we thought it was going to be. In a beautiful scene with Vision, we see the beginning of their love for one another as Vision tells her what is grief if not love persevering?

Hayward is a TOTAL jerk and other names we can’t use because this is a family-friendly podcast. We knew the footage of Wanda at SWORD wasn’t the real story, but now we get to see exactly what happened that day. And it was crushing.

The Weekly Bugle Vol 17

WandaVision Episode 7 kept us on the edge of our seats the entire time. Monica coming into her own, the twins, Agnes, and Vision’s Jim Halpert camera look? Breaking the Fourth Wall had it all and we cannot wait to discuss our latest theories.

Spoiler warning if you have not watched WandaVision Episode 7.

WandaVision Episode 7 Breakdown

wandavision podcast episode 7 breakdown photon

Episode 7 of WandaVision had a lot of I told you so moments for us which didn’t make them any less satisfying to witness. Jana called it way back on Episode 5 that Agnes was behind poor old Sparky’s death. And all along we have said, the entire fandom has said, that Agnes=Agatha.

In a not-so-shocking reveal, WandaVision finally lets that black cat out of the bad with one of the best reveals and a theme song that is a total bop.

Related: WandaVision Episode 7 Easter Eggs and Breakdown

We also learned that Pietro is a FAKE (told you so) and Hayward was officially attempting to bring Vision back online as a sentient weapon (told you so). Monica came into her powers or rather began to show them off as she bravely entered the hex to save Darcy, Wanda, and the townspeople from Hayward’s schemes.

Whether she will be Photon or Spectrum remains to be seen but she is definitely rocking those blue eyes of power. Puppet Pietro better watch his back, snoopers gonna snoop.

The commercial this week has many meanings but at least none of them are a child starving to death. We discuss Nexus and what relevance it could have to Doctor Strange 2 and the upcoming Loki series.

During the Agatha reveal, we entered her creepy basement complete with an ominous glowing book. We have some theories as to what that book is and who has still yet to reveal themselves as the ultimate orchestrator of evil.

Cruella

Brilliant. Bad. A little bit mad. The new trailer for Disney’s live-action Cruella dropped last week and it gave off some Harley Quinn/Joker vibes but in a good way. We love how incredibly evil and deranged she appears in the trailer. After all, villains should be villains.

Cruella is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution and follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly Haute.

But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable, and revenge-bent Cruella.

Cruella is in theaters May 28, 2021.

The Weekly Bugle Vol 16

WandaVision episode 6 lived up to its Halloween SPOOKtacular name. It was creepy, intense, and left us begging the universe to make it Friday again. What is going on with Hayward and Monica? Billy and Tommy are coming into their own, and Uncle P may not be who he claims to be.

Spoiler warning if you have not watched WandaVision episode 6.

WandaVisions Episode 6 Breakdown

the weekly bugle vol 16 wandavision episode 6 breakdown

This episode packed a lot in despite being shorter than episode 5. Several key things were revealed this week. One – Hayward is DEFINITELY up to no good. We talked Project CATARACT and what it could mean for Vision. Two – Monica still seems nonplussed to learn her DNA has been changed on a molecular level. She shrugs it off leaving us and Woo to question what she isn’t revealing yet.

Related: The Best WandaVision Quotes

Three – Billy and Tommy did get their comic book powers. Whether or not this will save them if Mephisto comes calling remains to be seen. Perhaps, this moment is exactly what the devil was waiting for.

Related: WandaVision’s Hexagons May Be Further Proof Of Mephisto

Four – Vision is still very much dead in the real world. In a traumatic scene, Vision attempts to leave the hex and proceeds to fall apart in front of our eyes. Darcy is the only one who cares.

Related: WandaVision Episode 6 Easter Eggs and Breakdown

Five – The hex has expanded and only Woo, Monica, Hayward, and a handful of other SWORD soldiers made it out. We hope that Monica and Woo got the file Darcy sent off about CATARACT and are able to meet up with her “guy.” Who is that? *cough* Reed Richards *cough*

Finally, Uncle Pietro continued to be shady. He admits he is there to cause her grief, but what kind of grief? We don’t know yet. Faux Pietro has some interesting questions for Wanda and “explanations” for why he looks so different. However, he makes a nasty comment about Vision already being dead, which prompted Wanda to power blast him across Town Square.

It will be interesting to see them interact next week and if we will ever see our beloved MCU Pietro again.

Cherry

We both had the opportunity to screen Tom Holland’s latest Cherry and wow it was brilliant. Tom delivered the best performance of his career while the Russo Bros once again blew us away with their cinematography and direction. This story focuses on tough subject matter and neither the Russo’s or Holland shy away from it.

They bring this semi-autobiographical story to life in a raw, heartbreaking, yet stunning way.

Cherry is in select theaters 2/26 and on AppleTV+ 3/12.

The Weekly Bugle Vol 15

After this week’s intense episode of WandaVision we spent a lot of time talking about our theories. Does Monica have powers? What’s going on with Hayward? And why did that one person show up at the end?

Spoiler warning if you have not watched WandaVision episode 5.

WandaVision Episode 5

This week WandaVision had viewers both inside and outside of Westview. Inside everything started out in a newborn baby bliss and exhaustion. Outside, SWORD was attempting to run tests on Monica Rambeau. It didn’t work out well though because her x-rays and her bloodwork came back inconclusive. She quickly shoots down any more attempts at gathering data and gets dressed for a meeting with SWORD.

WandaVision Episode 5 podcast

Once again Agent Woo and Dr. Darcy Lewis are amazing. And this is officially a Stan podcast for them now. Not only do they defend Wanda against Hayward’s attempts at painting her as some vicious person but Darcy also calls him a D*%$, which he totally is.

We interrupt this podcast to say we told you so! Hayward is a bad guy and it gets more obvious each week. Why else would he clearly have Vision’s body in a SWORD lab? We have a feeling we know what he is up to.

This episode also showed Vision learning at least a partial truth about what is happening in Westview. And it all comes to a head when he confronts Wanda about it at the end of the episode.

After an emotional scene with the two of them, we know somethings for certain. One: Vision knows something isn’t right and Wanda can’t control him into thinking otherwise. Two: Wanda isn’t 100% in control. A lot of evidence has shown that she isn’t the one pulling all the strings and she confirms it herself right here. Three- these two are going to need each other more than ever to face whatever is out there in Westview.

And that includes her long lost, non-MCU brother Pietro. Or rather Fox’s Quicksilver played by Evan Peters. She looks confused and wary about him showing up. Who is he really? We have our thoughts.

Falcon and The Winter Soldier

During the game, Sunday we were treated to a new trailer for the upcoming Disney+ show Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Agent 13, Sharon Carter is back, has gone rogue, and is kicking butt all over the place. Sam and Bucky are in couple’s counseling because despite Cap putting the two of them together they have still have a lot of issues to work out. It’s hilarious really.

The big takeaway is that Zemo is not only back but still on a mission to wipe out the existence of superheroes. He is an intriguing villain because he is not super-powered but rather super smart. His possible organization ties could lead to The Thunderbolts or the Masters of Evil which brings us to Spider-Man 3.

Spider-Man 3

It’s been a while since we talked about Spider-Man 3 rumors. Tom Holland in a recent interview with Variety said “I can say that it’s the most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made.” That’s a BIG statement, Tom, especially after the likes of Captain America Civil War.

He also said he doesn’t know anything about Maguire or Garfield’s involvement in the film.

Willem Dafoe, however, has been spotted on set. He will reportedly be reprising his role as Green Goblin. How is he back since he died in the original film? We won’t know until the movie is out, but we all know when it comes to comic books no one is ever truly dead.

The Weekly Bugle Vol 13

Another week of WandaVision means we have more theories. Sure some questions were possibly answered, but the show offered up even more to take their place. It’s like Hydra right? Pun intended.

Spoiler warning if you have not watched WandaVision episode 3.

the weekly bugle vol 13

WandaVision Episode 3 “Now In Color”

Episode 3 of WandaVision as we promised last week definitely kicked the story up a few notches. The last 10 mins or so are what some fans have been waiting for–the “Marvel feel.”

But lets back up. Before Monica was abruptly booted from Westview, there was a lot going on. Twins being born, a rogue stork, and more. Mephisto? It’s possible, and we talk about those theories this week.

Related: WandaVision Episode 3 Easter Eggs and Breakdown

The big discussion this week is not about the layers of the Hydra Soak commercial but rather what do we think about Monica? Did Monica know what was going on in Westview or did she “snap out of it” no pun intended when Wanda began singing the lullaby?

We are hoping for a concrete answer in Episode 4. However, knowing Marvel, we might not get one.

Rumors have been going around that Ethan Hawke has reportedly joined the MCU as the villain in Moon Knight.

Thor Love and Thunder

Another big rumor is that Matt Damon was seen in Sydney where they are filming Thor Love and Thunder. Previously Matt played Loki in “The Tragedy of the Loki of Asgard” in Thor Ragnarok. Is he back as stage Loki or will he play a different role this time?

The Justice League and The Ayer Cut

Another week, another change to the Snyder Cut release. This time, Zack Snyder’s Justice League will now be 4 hours long and not a mini-series on HBO Max. It will also get a theatrical release. FOUR hours…in a theater? No thank you.

In other DCEU news, fans are once again calling for a director’s cut of a movie. This time it is the Suicide Squad. Director David Ayer released a scene with a burned Joker that was cut (like so many other scenes) from the final film. Given the time and effort it took to get The Snyder Cut released, we wonder if DC will listen sooner on this Ayer cut.

But we have to wonder, doesn’t all this make the studio look bad? What do you think DC fans?
