Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania Reaction & Breakdown

After the events of Avengers Endgame, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is spending his free time writing a memoir “Look Out For The Little Guy.” With life going back to somewhat normal, Scott longs to make up for lost time with his daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton). Cassie meanwhile has been busy with Hope and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) seeking a way to map the Quantum Realm. When Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer) learns what they are up to she becomes fearful and urges them to stop. Unfortunately, the warning comes too late, and the machine Cassie has built sucks them all into Quantum Realm where the time-traveling, multiversal, and powerful Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) rules. Dark secrets come to light putting everyone in greater peril. The clock is ticking as they race to stop Kang and his army before time runs out.

Moon Knight Episode 4 Breakdown podcast

Welcome back Marvel fans! Today we are talking about episode 4 of Moon Knight. The race to Ammit’s statue comes to an end in more ways than one. There are a lot of familiar faces here, but what is actually happening? What is real and what is fake? We have some thoughts.

Khonshu’s ushabti is placed on the wall alongside NINE other Egyptian gods. The most recognizable is Anubis. In the comics, Anubis helped Marc when he was trying to escape from Ammit’s illusions. More on that at the end of the episode. If the current Ennead, who is definitely missing members, trapped Anubis, who else have they imprisoned?

Steven and Layla make it inside the tomb of Ammit’s avatar, clearly a wealthy Pharaoh. Bloody mummification tools are at the campsite they raid, however they do not see them. As a result, Layla and Steven wind up in some serious bloody trouble. Inside the tomb, they encounter undead Heka priests and Arthur’s henchman.

Arthur SHOOTS Marc and “kills” him. Or does he? Marc awakens in a mental hospital. Poor Dr. Harrow is only trying to help. There are a lot of familiar faces inside the hospital, even Gus the Goldfish. Marc isn’t sure what to make of all this. If you haven’t read the comics you might equally be confused. Don’t worry that is what we are here for.

More Jake Lockley proof and there is a Hippo goddess.

Layla picks up a fake passport in order to follow Marc to Egypt. Good thing she does that considering he definitely needs her help finding a certain clue to Ammit’s tomb. But before that, Marc and Steven try to get information about Arthur in order to stop him. It doesn’t go as planned and neither of the guys owns up to killing the Ammit followers. Does that mean there is a third identity lurking in the mind? We think so.

This episode introduces MCU fans to Anton Mogart, aka Midnight Man, a comic book foe of Moon Knight. Like in the comics, Anton steals things not because he wants the money but because he likes to collect things. And just like the comics, his encounter with Marc Spector leaves him left for dead… maybe.

After some fancy sky work, Khonshu is imprisoned in a shabti which means Marc/Steven and whoever else is using the body won’t have access to Khonshu’s powers. That could prove to be a big problem next week as the race to get to Ammit’s tomb continues.

Moon Knight Episode 2 Breakdown & Easter Eggs

This week’s episode begins with Steven fired from his job thanks to Marc’s actions the night before–namely destroying a bathroom to kill the attacking jackal. However, the museum only sees Steven lurking around the floor and running from nothing.

In an effort to prove himself NOT crazy, Steven decides he is going to track down the storage locker that goes with the key he found in his apartment. There he discovers not only is Marc real, but he has led a very different life from Steven. Marc wants to take control in order to finish the mission and get away from Khonshu but Steven refuses to give up the body. Khonshu chases Steven outside where he runs into Layla. Layla, who happens to be Marc’s wife.

Related: Moon Knight Episode 2 Easter Eggs & Breakdown

Arthur Harrow has his cop friends arrest Steven and bring him to his part of London where he attempts to recruit Steven to his side. It doesn’t work and Layla shows up to save him. On the run from the evil magician, Layla tells him to, “Summon the suit.” He does, but it’s not the Moon Knight suit but the Mr. Knight suit. Steven is proud of himself until once again is out of his depth. Then it’s up to Marc to take over and save the night.

But Khonshu has plans–and so does Harrow. Marc needs to get to Egypt before worse things happen.

S3E17: Moon Knight Episode 1 Breakdown & Easter Eggs

moon knight breakdown Easter eggs marvel podcast

Welcome back Marvel fans! Today we are talking about the first MCU show of 2022: Moon Knight. It’s time for the world to meet Marc, um Steven Grant, a gift shopist who has issues sleeping. His dreams seem very realistic, but luckily they are only dreams. Or are they? Soon enough the lines between real and fake are blurred, add in a moon deity and poor Steven’s world is turned completely upside down.

Moon Knight Episode 1 Breakdown & Easter Eggs

The episode starts with a look at cult leader Arthur Harrow. In the show, he is the leader of the followers of Ammit. In the comics, he is a Nobel Prize candidate for his work in pain theory. The glass thing might be a nod to the former unless they explain it more in future episodes.

Steven Grant wakes up chained to his bed. He does this and many other things around his apartment to reassure himself that he did not get up and wander around in the night. After another day at the museum, Steven attempts to stay away. However, he falls asleep at some point and awakens in a field in Germany. If that castle looks familiar then you too watched Marvel’s What If?

Related: Moon Knight Episode 1 Easter Eggs & Breakdown

The voice of Khonshu is heard, clearly annoyed that Steven once again is in control of the body. After a run-in with Harrow and his goons who are after the golden scarab Steven somehow has in his pocket, he flees. But not before he blacks out again and comes to with bloody fists and a pile of beaten-up bad guys around him.

Some more blacking out, more yelling by Khonshu, and poof Steven wakes up back at home. It was all a dream. Or was it? Harrow has followed him to the museum and sends jackals after him at night. Good thing Marc is around-ish to help.

Moon Knight Trailer Breakdown

It’s time to embrace the chaos. If you missed the Moon Knight trailer, watch this first and then let’s talk about it.

Kid Cudi’s Day ‘n’ Night sets the tone for the trailer as we meet Steven Grant who has quite a few issues. Steven? Isn’t this show about Marc? Yes and yes. See one of the things you need to know about Moon Knight is that he has more than one personality. He suffers from dissociative personality disorder and in the comics he has five alters or personalities.

Due to the clever use of mirrors and a Dick Van Dyke cockney accent, the show will attempt to help viewers follow who is in control of Marc at any given time. Cockney accent: Steven, Gruff American who is also kicking butt: Marc Spector/Moon Knight, White Suit: Mr. Knight, and it’s unclear how Jake Lockley will be distinguished from the rest.

Related: Moon Knight Trailer Breakdown and Easter Eggs

Ethan Hawke is playing the villainous Arthur Harrow, a cult leader and the obvious villain of the show. We say obvious because after all there could be another bigger bad lurking in the shadows. No we don’t think it is Mephisto but it could be the Sun King or someone else.

Eternals tie in? Yes there is definitely a tie in here. So if you haven’t watched Eternals, you might want to before the show. It’s on Disney+ now so you can skip undesirable parts aka that unnecessary beach scene. How does it relate to Moon Knight? Well you will have to listen to find out.

what if episodes 6 and 7 breakdown

Welcome back Marvel fans! Life got in the way but we are back and breaking down Episodes 6 and 7 of Marvel’s What If…? What If Episodes 6 & 7 Breakdown

what if episodes 6 and 7 breakdown

What If Episode 6

Our least favorite Avenger Tony Stark is almost taken out by a missile of his own making. However before he can be stranded in the desert, Killmonger appears out of nowhere and saves him. In this universe, Killmonger is still out for revenge on those that have crossed him. And he just found a way to make his evil dreams come true.

Quickly, much to the chagrin of Happy and Pepper, Tony promotes Killmonger and begins work on project Liberator. Thing Iron Legion but more hardcore. They needed vibranium though so sneaky, slimy Klaue comes to play. Killmonger set everyone up though and the results are catastrophic. Well, except for him.

Related: What If Episode 6 Easter Eggs & Breakdown

After delivering Klaue’s body, he was welcomed back to Wakanda. With T’Challa dead, King T’Chaka is happy to have his nephew back. But make no mistake Killmonger has plans and that includes becoming Black Panther. Which he does. “Wakanda Forever” is cringe worthy coming out of his mouth. Anyways, only two people have suspicions about him and that would be Shuri and Pepper who are teaming up to stop him, maybe in Season 2.

What If Episode 7

Episode 7 featured the biggest party in the realms and everyone who is anyone showed up to hang out with Thor god of parties. So many amazing cameos in this one from Surtur to Howard the Duck. The Grandmaster was DJing the whole thing and Thor kept the magical brew going.

Related: What If Episode 7 Easter Eggs & Breakdown

Even the Frost Bros with Prince Loki of Jotunheim showed up to hang out. But you can’t trash earth like a frat house and not expect consequences. Captain Marvel came to shut it down and we got some epic fight sequences.

But, it was THE ENDING that had our jaws dropped. We want the upcoming battle with Ultron Vision (Vision Ultron) to be the final episode of the season. What about you?

what if episodes 8 and 9 breakdown

Welcome back Marvel fans! What If season 1 is now streaming on Disney+. Sorry we were behind on this recording, this is what happens when you travel to Disney World for their 50th Celebration! But we couldn’t just let these two episodes go without discussing them. And actually, it worked out that we combined the two because they were EPIC.

“What If… Ultron Won?” and “What If… The Watcher Broke His Oath? Let’s get into it.

What If Episodes 8 & 9 Breakdown

What If Episode 8

What If Episode 8 breakdown

Black Widow and Hawkeye are fighting to take down a group of Ultron’s robotic army. Hawkeye has a cloaking device and a robotic arm, clearly something went very wrong in this timeline- Ultron won. With the power of the Mind Stone and the synthetic body meant for Vision, he was able to quickly takeover the entire planet. This is where we take a moment to remind you this was all Tony Stark’s fault.

Thanos shows up because he needs the Mind Stone. Quicker than Cap can save Avengers Assemble, Ultron cuts Thanos down. Literally. Now with all the stones, Ultron travels to other worlds to also eliminate their populations.

Related: What If Episode 8 Easter Eggs & Breakdown

Unfortunately, this new god-like status he has gained thanks to the stones also reveals The Watcher to him. He is determined to attack The Watcher and travel to other timelines to cleanse them.

It’s up to Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Zola to defeat Ultron. The plan doesn’t work of course because Ultron is not in this universe. However, The Watcher pulls a Hail Mary and asks Dr. Strange Supreme to help him stop Ultron from destroying ALL realities.

What If Episode 9

what if episode 9 breakdown

Guardians of the Multiverse Assemble! The Watcher has traveled to various timelines to pull out some of the heroes (and villains) we have met throughout the season. Party Thor, Captain Carter, Star-Lord T’Challa, and even Killmonger makes the cut. You know who doesn’t? Tony Stark. *insert laughter here*

The team makes a plan to lure Ultron to a planet and separate his body from the stones. Thor draws his attention and the fight begins. There is a lot going on in this scene but one of our favorite moments is when Strange brings in the Zombies. Wanda’s wicked cool Zombie self makes a cameo.

Related: What if Episode 9 Easter Eggs & Breakdown

They get the Soul Stone away from him but he uses the Time Stone against them. Strange Supreme grabs Ultron with his tentacles and uses his own Time Stone to break the cycle. Why does Strange’s stone work when outside of their timelines the stones don’t work? We have some thoughts.

Zola is uploaded into Ultron and the day is saved. Just kidding. Zola is a bad guy and wants to enjoy this new powerful life. Also not surprising, Killmonger betrays them! The two baddies fight it out for control of the stones. Strange steps in and traps them both in his pocket dimension, forever guarding them so they can’t harm anyone else. Until Season 2 probably.

Each hero goes back to their timelines except Widow. Her timeline is destroyed. Instead, she is reinstated into the timeline from Episode 3 where Loki and his army are having a lot of fun.

what if episode 5 breakdown

Welcome back Marvel fans! Somehow we missed Episode 5 What If…Zombies? Don’t ask how it happened; we don’t really know. Our theory is we had so much fun with our Shang-Chi episode, which included some Zombies tangents, that we felt like we had covered it. Oops! Forgive us?

what if episode 5 breakdown

What If Episode 5 Breakdown

This one starts off similar to Avengers Infinity War only it quickly turns into something straight out of a horror movie. The Avengers have come to save Bruce from Cull Obsidian and Ebony Maw, unfortunately, they are Zombies.

Before they can turn Bruce, the Cloak of Levitation, The Wasp, and Spider-Man show up to save him. How did this happen? Two weeks prior when Hank Pym found Janet Van Dyne in the Quantum Realm, Janet was a zombie and turned Hank into one too. Together they traveled back to our world and the infection spread. She apparently was infected with a Quantum Virus. You guys just put quantum in front of everything, don’t you?

Related: What If Episode 5 Easter Eggs & Breakdown

Unfortunately, when the Avengers tried to stop it, they lost. The remaining heroes are determined to make it to Camp LeHigh, where a beacon of hope is coming from.

Lots of fighting with Zombies occurs before they can make it there. This includes Bucky saying goodbye to Zombie Steve. Can these guys get a timeline where they live happily ever after?

Related: Best Quotes from Marvel’s What If

Once the remaining heroes make it to the base, they learn that Vision is alive but is hiding a big secret. Wanda, Zombie Scarlett Witch if you’re nasty. Somehow Wanda has retained her powers and enough brains to use them. Vision has been feeding her (GROSS) using people he has lured into the base.

In a quick turn around he decides to off himself, gives the Mind Stone to the good guys. They escape to Wakanda determined to reverse the effects of the virus. Unfortunately, big bad ZOMBIE THANOS is a thing and they are in big trouble.

What If Episode 4 Breakdown Podcast

Welcome back Marvel fans! Last week we shared our breakdown and thoughts on episode 3 of What If, and if you thought that one was dark, Episode 4 said hold my TEA. Marvel went there and we discover “What If… Doctor Strange lost his heart instead of his hands?” Apparently, the answer to that is UTTER DEVASTATION.

What If Episode 4 Breakdown

What If Episode 4 Breakdown Podcast

Although this week’s episode of What If started off somewhat familiar, things took a turn for the worse pretty quickly. Instead of Strange losing the ability to use his hands in the car accident, Christine dies. This sets him on the path to become a sorcerer. “Dormammu, I’ve come to bargain.” And he wins. Everything is great until it isn’t. Not being able to let go of the past proves to be his and this timeline’s undoing.

Wong warns him not to mess with the fabric of time but Strange doesn’t listen. We get to watch Christine die 7 more times to drive home the point: if you mess with the timeline BAD things happen. The Ancient One appears and attempts to stop Strange but he escapes to the Library of Cagliostro. It’s the same Cagliostro whose book was stolen in Doctor Strange. There were some comic book tie-ins here and The Watcher gets a little closer to the action than he probably should.

Related: What If Episode 4 Easter Eggs & Breakdown

Strange on his quest to fix that point in time begins to absorb the energy of SEVERAL mystical beings, including one familiar beast from Episode 1. The others resemble the other Great Old Ones or the baddie from DuckTales, you decide. Strange Supreme must be stopped and can only be stopped by one person. Doctor Strange.

Related: Best Quotes from Marvel’s What If

One small lighthearted moment later, Doctor Strange is thrown into a meeting with his crazy other self. The showdown isn’t pretty and does not end well, for anyone. The Watcher even talks to Strange, refusing to intervene despite Strange’s pleads. And then the credits roll on the darkest episode of Marvel’s What If..? yet.
