The Falcon and Winter Soldier may have come to an end but Marvel released Assembled: The Making of the Falcon and Winter Soldier on Disney+ and it gave us an epic look at what it took to bring the latest Marvel Studios show to life.  After talking Assembled we wanted to share some of our favorite Falcon and Winter Soldier moments.

Assembled: The Making Of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

One of the things we all really enjoy about the Assembled show on Disney+ is that it shows how much care and detail it takes to showcase the latest Marvel show. Falcon and Winter Soldier was especially intriguing as it really dove into the struggles and triumphs of filming during the pandemic.

The show also highlights each character and we got a chance to see Zemo’s cut commercial. Also, can we seriously get that jacket? Marvel, Her Universe, someone? Moving on from Zemo’s coat, we all loved hearing about Sam and Bucky’s arc and what it meant to the actors as well as the crew. The care for this show and the powerful storylines is evident when watching Assembled.

S2E26: Falcon and Winter Soldier Finale Breakdown

Falcon and Winter Soldier Finale Breakdown

It’s here the moment we have waited and dreaded, the finale of Falcon and Winter Soldier. Episode 6, “One World, One People” gave us a ton of action, Sam in his new suit, and a few surprises. That one reveal though left us going really? This is what you went with Marvel? Are you ready for this Falcon and Winter Soldier finale breakdown?

The finale begins with Karli making moves to stop the GRC vote. Sam and Bucky arrive on the scene where Bucky meets up with Sharon who snuck in using a little trick Black Widow loves. Karli planned to make the GRC flee the building so they could be kidnapped by the Flag Smashers. Sam figures it out and tries to keep it from happening. Unfortunately, he was stopped by Batroc’s interference. However, that gave us a chance to see his new suit and watch him kick some Leaper butt.

Episode 6 felt like the third act of any Marvel film, packed with enough action to satisfy every hardcore fan. Sam not only got a new suit but he has fully accepted his new role as Captain America. When he saves a truck full of GRC members even the crowd is finally putting respect on his name.

Falcon and Winter Soldier Finale Breakdown

Bucky was finally thanked after he saved a group from burning up in a truck. It’s about time these two guys get the love they deserve. And I guess we do have to mention Walker decided to do the right thing…eventually. Of course, he is still a giant toddler and the proof of that is how he acts during his later meeting with Contessa Valentina. Speaking of our friend Val, we have some thoughts about her and Zemo.

Oh and Zemo? We told you so!

In one of the most powerful scenes to date, Sam gives a speech while the world watches. In it he talks about how the governments need to change, they need to do better by the people they govern. And he knows what it’s like to struggle. He is aware of how people will hate him simply for being a Black man wearing the Stars and Stripes.

We cannot say enough about this scene. Seriously, just go back and watch it again.

Falcon and Winter Soldier Episode 5 Breakdown

Last week, we broke down episode 4 of Falcon and Winter Soldier, and episode 5, “Truth,” is now streaming on Disney+. This is an episode of WOW. Walker gets what’s coming to him, we continue to stan Sam and Bucky, and let’s talk about that cameo.

This is your spoiler warning if you haven’t watched Episode 5 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Falcon and Winter Soldier Episode 5 Breakdown

The show begins with Walker fleeing the scene after he’s slain one of the Flag Smashers and leads to an altercation with Sam, and Bucky. Walker tries to convince Sam and Bucky that he murdered that Flag Smasher because he killed Lemar. Bruh, we all saw what happened, but keep telling yourself that. Sam tells Walker he needs to turn over the shield. I think we all know what’s coming next.

Unfortunately, Bucky and Sam don’t walk away completely unscathed. Bucky suffers some damage to his vibranium arm and Sam’s wings get completely ripped off. Sam takes the shield after Bucky drops it and walks away, much like Steve did in Captain America: Civil War.

Related: Falcon and Winter Soldier Episode 5 Easter Eggs and Breakdown

We learn that Karli has friends in high places. Just how high? We have some thoughts especially when a leader of LAF sends Batroc with some goodies to help her out in the end. All of this seems to point to the fact that Sharon is not the Power Broker. But her dealings with Batroc? We have some thoughts.

Related: Best Quotes from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

Back in D.C., we get one of the most rewarding scenes of the show yet: Walker is stripped of his Captain America title, his rankings, receives an other-than-honorable discharge, is stripped of his benefits, and essentially only misses getting a court-martial because of his previous service.

Then it’s time for the cameo. Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (portrayed by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) comes in with the same knowing swagger as Agatha Harkness. She knows Walker took the serum, she knows that his taking it makes him very valuable to certain people, and she knows he doesn’t have the shield, which doesn’t matter because the government doesn’t own it anyway (legal gray area and all).

So why is Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine important? She has been around in the comic world for a long time. Contessa has also played for both the good guys and the bad guys. We get into her potential, how she relates to current characters, and where we might see her again. Hint: it’s likely soon.

Bucky catches up to Zemo, or rather Zemo was waiting for Bucky in Sokovia. After an exchange that includes Zemo sharing he crossed his own name off of Bucky’s list the Wakandans show up to take him to The Raft. You remember the Raft from Civil War. You should also remember it’s definitely not escape proof.

Despite Ayo’s warning to be scare in Wakanda she does a favor for Bucky that we see him deliver to Sam later on.

Sam heads to MD to visit Isaiah Bradley hoping to understand more about the shield’s complicated legacy. Isaiah recounts memories of his past in more detail than during the last visit. To say it’s a complicated legacy is an understatement.

After some quality bonding time fixing up the family boat, Sam and Bucky go their separate ways. One to give some much needed closure to a friend and the other to train to wield the shield. That Rocky training montage was awesome.

Falcon and Winter Soldier Post Credit Scene

After Sam teases us with the new suit, thanks for not showing us Sam, we get our first post credit scene. In it Walker is up to something and fans have missed reactions.

What did you think of the post credit scene?

Don’t forget about the end credit scene with this episode!

The Weekly Bugle Vol 24

Falcon and Winter Soldier Major Cameo

We don’t want to get our hopes up as we did with Paul Bettany’s cheeky little joke, but apparently, there will be a major cameo coming in Episode 5 of Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Apparently, it’s not someone we have previously seen before in the MCU however they are well known in the comic book world.

That opens the door to MANY different characters but we have thoughts on who could be the most likely cameo. And a tangent that wishes for it to be Simu. Sorry not sorry.

However, we are placing bets on it being the REAL Power Broker who happens to be the REAL Mandarin. And the Shang-Chi Easter egg we found gives extra weight to that theory.

Shang-Chi Easter Egg In Madripoor

Marvel has two websites going that relate to their shows, Roxxcart.com for the upcoming Loki and ExploreMadripoor.com for Falcon and Winter Soldier. Right now the Roxxcart one just shows the logo but Explore Madripoor is a functioning site that takes would-be visitors all around the town.

One of the fun things you can do on the site is book a charter. If you type in the shipping container number that Sharon tells the guys Nagel is in, you get some info about it, including a reference to the upcoming film Shang-Chi.

Marvel Legends leaks also revealed more detailed looks at Shang-Chi, The Mandarin, Xialing, and Demon Slayer. We don’t want to spoil it for you but if you want to see the costumes check them out here.

Wynonna Earp Finale

Our favorite female gunslinger has hung up Peacemaker and we are not okay. Sure that finale was super sweet, heartfelt, and tied things up nicely. However, it is hard to say goodbye to the Earp sisters and the best-looking, quickest draw from the old west.

Anyone else hoping another network picks up Wynonna? Maybe we can just get a movie somewhere down the road?

Falcon and Winter Soldier Episode 4 Breakdown Podcast

Last week, we broke down episode 3 of Falcon and Winter Soldier, and episode 4, “The Whole World Is Watching” is now streaming on Disney+. It was an episode of parallels, where moments mirrored past encounters but instead showing darker outcomes. We continue to stan Zemo but ultimately our favorite females are back and get all our love this week.

The fallout from that ending is giving us a lot to think about as we wait for episode 5.

Falcon and Winter Soldier Episode 4 Breakdown

The show begins taking us back to Wakanda where Bucky lived for a while getting the much-needed help and peace he needed. This scene in particular was heartbreaking and touching. Ayo is there and they are testing out the Hydra words in order to see if his therapy has worked. As Bucky cries, we cried. Give Sebastian Stan an Emmy. Seriously.

In the present, Ayo tells the White Wolf he has 8 hours before “we” come and take Zemo. That ‘we’ of course is the Dora Milaje aka our favorite thing about Black Panther. Our favorite trio devises a plan to find Karli but they are rudely interrupted when Walker and Hoskins show up.

Falcon and Winter Soldier Episode 4 Breakdown Podcast Zemo

This episode could have been called the We Told You So. In case you had any thoughts that Walker was at least a somewhat decent human being, he most definitely is not. The most gratifying moments of this show happen when he thinks he can touch Ayo and she and the Dora Milaje proceed to whoop his and Hoskins’ butt. Sam, Bucky, and Zemo seem amused before the first two reluctantly decide to intervene. However, Zemo uses this moment to escape.

A free Zemo is going to be a lot of fun, although we will miss the banter among these three guys.

Sharon also returns this episode leading more fans to speculate she is in fact the power broker. We still don’t buy that completely but she clearly has the hookup. After all, we don’t have access to two satellites.

Falcon and Winter Soldier Episode 4 Easter Eggs Sharon

Before he disappeared, Zemo had managed to destroy all but one super serum vial. Walker uses it after his friend Hoskins is captured by the Flag Smashers and it all goes downhill from there. Like Dr. Erskin said in The First Avenger, the serum amplifies traits and personalities. Steve was a good man, Walker is not.

The episode ends with a gruesome and egregious crime committed by Walker using the shield. It was downright sacrilegious and the world was watching via all the phones that were recording the incident. What does that mean for next week? And will Sam and Bucky finally take him down for good?

S2E19: Falcon and Winter Soldier Episode 3 Breakdown

falcon and winter soldier episode 3 breakdown

Last week, we broke down episode 2 of Falcon and Winter Soldier, and episode 3, “Power Broker” is now streaming on Disney+. It gave us a lot of callbacks to previous MCU films, comics, and the team-up we didn’t know we needed. Yes, that’s right Zemo is now teaming up with our guys to find out the deal behind the super-soldier serum.

Of course, we have some new theories about where this series might be headed and what future MCU properties it ties into.

Falcon and Winter Soldier Episode 3 Breakdown

The show starts off with a commercial commending the virtues of the Global Repatriation Council, but as we know from experience, these types of organizations are rarely as saintly as they appear. Walker and Hoskins are attempting to capture Karli Morgenthau and failing. In another nod to #NotMyCap, Walker loses it on a prisoner yelling in his face screaming, “Do you know who I am?” Bless this random guy because he says what we are all thinking. “Yes. I do. And I don’t care.” It’s true, we don’t care about you. Moving on.

Bucky manages to break Zemo out of a high max security facility a la Ocean’s 11 style. Zemo reveals that he is wealthy, ahem, he is a Baron in case you don’t read the comics like Sam.

In Madripoor, a frequent haunt in the X-Men comics we see nods to that franchise and get a few more comic Easter eggs including Sam’s disguise as the Smiling Tiger. That disguise has ties to a certain upcoming MCU property… just saying. In the city, they search for the doctor responsible for the creation of the new super serum. Before they can find him, trouble comes round, because of course, it does.

Sharon Carter returns to help save their butts. She is more cynical than ever and for good reason. They manage to find Dr. Nagel and learn that the Flag Smashers have stolen all the Super Soldier Serum he was able to create.

The show begins with John Walker reliving his glory days at his old high school before taking the field to show off his new title of Captain America. His partner Hoskins who reveals his alias later as Battlestar is also there.

Unlike Steve who hated the pomp and circumstance that surrounded his forced stage shows as Captain America, Walker is reveling in them, taking selfies, signing autographs like a gloried comic con newb. Sam and Bucky watch as this clown parades around with the shield.

They leave to confront the Flag Smashers in Germany where after a battle, Bucky realizes exactly what they are dealing with. Like we mentioned last week these people are strong and now we know why.

This episode did a few things. One, it made us hate John Walker more. Two, it revealed how the Flag Smashers are so powerful. Three, it tackled race in such a poignant and honest way. Four, it made us even more hyped for next week.

John Walker and his buddy Hoskins both have ties to the criminal organization the Power Brokers. The Power Brokers are after the Flag Smashers for stealing what belongs to them, which would be the super-soldier serum that they developed.

We also met Isaiah Bradley, the black Captain America, this week. In the comics and on the show it seems, Isaiah was mercilessly experimented on by both the government and Hydra. Sam also dealt with discrimination for simply being a black man on a street in Maryland.

Our favorite therapist was back and forced our two unlikely friends into a couples’ therapy session. What followed was the most hilarious moment of the show while also being a very heartfelt, tender one as well. After they have a staring contest the heart of their problem is revealed which as often happens in therapy brings them closer together.

Marvel Studios released a new poster promoting the upcoming Loki series coming to Disney+ on June 11. It shows Loki in the custody of the TVA complete with a collar that much like Wanda’s in Civil War is meant to disrupt his power. However, one look at his face shows he is not concerned in the least.

Visually the clock is playing to the notion of his time traveling. It is also a nod to the TVA’s time machine from the comics. We have some thoughts about the lack of hexagons and the multitude of circles.

The show begins on a somber note as Sam is packing up the shield Steve gave him at the end of Avengers: Endgame. But almost immediately the scene shifts and fans are treated to an epic aerial battle. Falcon manages to rescue an operative who was kidnapped by none other than Batroc. Remember him?

Batroc gets away and before Sam heads home he learns about the Flag-Smashers, a group of individuals who think like was better during the blip. They want a unified world with no borders, and essentially no governments.

Sam turns over Steve’s shield to the Smithsonian to be used in the ever-expanding Captain America exhibit.

New York International Children’s Festival

New York International Children’s Festival (NYICFF) just wrapped up Sunday and we both had a great time (virtually) checking out all the features and shorts this festival had to offer. The NYICFF was founded in 1997 to support the creation and dissemination of thoughtful, provocative, and intelligent film for children and teens ages 3-18. The Festival experience cultivates an appreciation for the arts, encourages active, discerning viewing. It also stimulates lively discussion among peers, families, and the film community.

Hands down one of our favorite features was The Legend of Hei. The Legend of Hei, based on the web series from director MTJJ, combines fantasy-world building with gorgeous animation, humor, action, and the most adorable character ever maybe- Hei.

Another favorite was the shorts, especially the ones focused on breaking the binary. These films explore identity beyond gender binaries, as queer kids shape their own ideas of who they are, finding possibilities of joy and community along the way.

Falcon and The Winter Soldier Final Trailer and Theories

Marvel Studios dropped the final trailer for Falcon and The Winter Soldier ahead of its premiere this Friday.

From what we have seen it’s going to be epic but you should’ve already known that. Plus for all those negative nellies who complained about WandaVision starting too slow, they won’t have anything to say this time.

Falcon and Winter Soldier is an action-packed show. AKA MARVEL. The relationship between Sam and Bucky is golden, all the fun you are expecting after seeing them together in other films. And yeah get ready for a few tears too. Our full reviews will be dropping later this week when the embargo lifts. Until then… on your left.
